Travelling Information

By train

University (the conference venue) and many hotels are in the vicinity of the railway station "Dammtor". Nearly all trains will stop there . Coming from the south, it is the next stop after central station ("Hauptbahnhof").

By airplane

Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel is an important German airport with direct flights to many European capitals. You reach the city centre in 35 minutes by public transportation: Bus Nr. 110 every 10 minutes to the nearest subway station "Ohlsdorf"). The blue line U1 is a onvenient connection to the hotel area, get out at stop "Stephansplatz". A taxi from the airport will cost around € 15,-. All of them use standard taxameters. Additionally, there is a direct bus ("Airport Express") every 15 minutes from the airport to Central Station.

Some unexpensive air carriers use the small airport "Lübeck Blankensee" and call it "Hamburg-Lübeck", which is a bit misleading, but maybe it is a good choice for you, because a bus is waiting outside for every flight to collect all passengers and will bring you to Hamburg Central Station within less than 90 minutes (€ 7,-). You can't miss your bus connection in this small airport. (at present conections from/to Gdansk, London-Stansted, Bergamo, Stockholm (Skavsta), Pisa, Dublin)
