Transportation In Hamburg

The public transportation in Hamburg is well-developed. It is possible to reach all places within the city with
the underground (U-Bahn), the interurban train (S-Bahn) or with buses.
It is usually quicker as by car.
After the purchase of a ticket you can change arbitrary (in one driving direction) between underground,
interurban train, buses and even some ferries during 2 hours.
Parking places in the city center( where the conference center and hotels are located) are extremely rare.
Bus tickets can be bought directly by the driver, tickets for underground (U-Bahn) or interurban train (S-Bahn) must be bought before, from a ticket machine.
Cancelling or stamping of tickets is not needed.
On the ticket automat you will find three zones:

• "Short distance" (Kurzstrecke) only for 2-4 stations (see the plan beside the automat) costs 1,30
• "Longer distance" (Großbereich) is the whole urban area and costs 2,60
• "Long distance" (Gesamtbereich) includes: Elmshorn, Pinneberg, Stade, Buxtehude, Harburg, Buchholz,
Lüneburg, Ratzeburg, Bad Oldesloe, Bad Segeberg, Bad Bramstedt, Ahrensburg (also in only one driving direction) and costs 6,90
