Experiments with Surface Forms in EBMT (Matching and Alignment)
(Automatic) Machine Translation (MT) is one of the most challenging domains in Natural
Language Processing (NLP). Due to difficulties that were encountered in other MT
approaches (e.g. Rule-Based MT), new directions were developed. One of these approaches
is Example-Based Machine Translation (EBMT). It normally consists of three steps:
matching, alignment and recombination.
The main topic of my research is recombination in EBMT. As it is based on the previous
two steps, I needed to focus my attention first in this direction. In this talk I will
present some experiments made for matching and alignment, all based on surface forms.
Here the presentation is available.
