Cognitive Parsing: A Survey of Existing Models

NatS Oberseminar 29 July 2006, 13:30 Uhr, F-235

Michael Daum

We present an overview on current sentence processing accounts and compare their predictions on performance difficulties in ambiguous relative clause attachments. A new constraint-based model is outlined that combines the advantages of two-stage reanalysis with those of typical constraint-based accounts. This model is established on the basis of a real system that has been implemented over the last decade and which already has proven to parse German with a broad coverage.
