Abstract
The course will address the following topics:
what is an ontology and how can it be used for information description
the problem of semantic heterogeneity (multiple ontologies, describing multiple prespectives)
the possible solutions to semantic heterogeneity two main approaches the mediated approach and the p2p approach (presentation and discussion)
Matching heterogeneous ontology, using natural language resources (WORDNET)
practical session with a computational system for integrating ontologies, (DRAGO - Distributed Reasoning Architecture for a galaxy of Ontologies)
